Question: My hair never gets any longer? I have been growing it for years, I hardly ever have any cut off, but it just wont grow. Its really fine, could that be why?  Jenny from Balderton

Answer: There are a few things to take into consideration here. Firstly if your hair is fine, you may suffer from the ends snapping and splitting, especially if you using straightening irons! If this isnt the case, it is worth bearing in mind that hair does have a growth cycle and it naturally falls out at the end of the cycle, for some this cycle can be long and give time for the hair to grow, for others its shorter, which means your hair naturally sheds/replaces  itself quicker. call in to see us, as a split end repair serum might help!

Question:I have ruined my hair by using straightening irons everyday. Do I have to have my hair cut off as it is so very dry? Can you help? Cheryl:Notts

Answer: Dont worry Cheryl, most of us are 'addicted to straightening irons! You need to protect your hair against the heat EVERYTIME you use the irons. If you think about it... straightening irons heat up to more than twice the heat of boiling water! We recommend Paul Mitchells Heat Seal for extra protection and treat yourself to a professional in salon treatment, to rehydrate brittle over dry hair. Call in at the salon during June as all our professional treatments are on special offer at just £3.50 including a relaxing scalp massage! The bad news is, I would recommend you having the split ends removed simply to help the hair look smooth, this way you might not have to use the straighteners quite as much to get rid of the frizzies! Hope to see you soon!

Question: My hair looks great when I leave the hairdressers, but I can never make it look the same myself. My hair always goes flat  after just 10 mins. I think I use the same brush, can you make any suggestions, do you think my hairdresser cuts it wrong. Emma from Newark

Answer: This is such a common problem Emma. it is unlikely to be the haircut, as you do say that it looks great when you leave the salon. There are lots of factors here, firstly the shampoo and conditioner will need to be protein based to give your hair the 'oompf' it needs, why not try Paul Mitchells 'Extra Body Shampoo'. Once you have prepared your hair with the correct shampoo you will need to give your style some 'scaffold' to hold it in place once you have blowdried it. There are many remedies I can suggest here such as 'Cocky' by Tigi haircare or 'Extra Body Mousse' by Paul Mitchell.
